It's because the venues are the ones partnered with these types of companies. Unless the artist themselves own a venue, they usually have to go through the ticketing of whatever that venue itself uses. The artists sadly don't get that much control on that type of thing, esp the average artist that doesn't have the type of "klout" to demand X Y Z happen for them to play that venue.
